[Vitalik Recommends 'The Interfold': A Privacy Protocol Optimized for Scenarios like Voting and Secret Auctions] BlockBeats News, May 28 — Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published a post recommending the 'The Interfold' project, stating, 'More people should learn about Interfold, which is a general implementation of the MACI (Minimal Anti-Collusion Infrastructure) concept that I have been advocating for over the past decade. Essentially, this project is a privacy protocol optimized for scenarios like voting and secret auctions, enabling more people to focus on and understand this technological advancement.' Vitalik further explained that the core mechanisms of Interfold include generating threshold encryption keys, users submitting votes on-chain with ZKP (Zero-Knowledge Proof) eligibility verification, performing arbitrary computations within Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), followed by threshold decryption. These mechanisms ensure unconditional voter anonymity, Ethereum-level censorship resistance, and ZK over FHE guarantees for result correctness, among other strong security assurances. Currently, the main limitation lies in the high cost of complex computations (such as multiplication operations), with only addition-based tallying being mature. Optimizations like slashing-based approaches are underway, and the long-term goal is to achieve obfuscation techniques to eliminate reliance on M-of-N committees. [Original Link]
