UK-based crypto custody firm Copper is reportedly seeking a sale at a valuation of around $500 million, with Cantor Fitzgerald hired to assist in the process. According to reports, Copper's core asset is its custody settlement system ClearLoop, which allows institutions to complete custody-based DvP (Delivery versus Payment) settlements without transferring assets on-chain, thereby reducing settlement risks. Copper closed its enterprise custody business in 2023 to focus on ClearLoop. The company had previously considered an IPO, but with Bitcoin prices below $80K and the AI industry attracting significant capital, the crypto IPO market remains relatively sluggish.
