I understand that for many Jamaicans, land is more than property. It is where families are raised, homes are built, and livelihoods are sustained over decades. I also recognise that many people still do not hold formal title for the land they occupy.
This gap between possession and title creates barriers to finance, security of tenure, inheritance, and participation in the formal economy.
Through the Land Administration Capacity Enhancement Project, we are working with the Korea International Cooperation Agency to strengthen Jamaica’s land administration systems, technology, and institutional capacity.
This work supports secure land ownership, access to land services, and transparency in land administration for the people of Jamaica.(Andrew Holness)
