As we move forward, we must let go of the competition, suspicion, rivalry, and mistrust that have fragmented our markets, weakened our voice, and constrained our collective progress. This way, we will move beyond incremental progress and achieve decisive, deeper integration built on shared strength and mutual trust. This spirit must guide the East African Community as we expand continental integration to unlock opportunities that are being created by the African Continental Free Trade Area. We must speak in one voice to advance reforms of the African Union to make it fit-for-purpose, and the United Nations more inclusive and responsive to our continent.(William Samoei Ruto, PhD)
