[Iran: First Round of Talks Showed Sincerity, but U.S. Response Was Lukewarm]
According to CCTV International News, today (April 22), Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei stated that Iran has not yet decided whether to participate in a new round of talks with the United States. In an interview with the media, Baghaei said that Iran participated in the first round of talks with the U.S. with sincerity and a serious attitude, but the U.S. showed a lukewarm response, lacked sincerity, and its stance was inconsistent. He stated that Iran has made it clear that if attending talks in Islamabad, Pakistan aligns with national interests, it will participate, but no decision has been made yet. Baghaei emphasized that the U.S.'s blockade of Iranian ports constitutes an act of aggression, and actions such as firing upon and seizing Iranian merchant ships are not behaviors befitting a country genuinely committed to a serious diplomatic process.
