[Tesla Reportedly Developing New Compact SUV]
Odaily Planet Daily News: According to informed sources, Tesla is developing a brand-new, smaller, and more affordable electric SUV. In recent weeks, the company has contacted suppliers to discuss the detailed plans for this compact SUV. This will be a new model, not a redesign of Tesla's existing Model 3 or Model Y. Sources indicate that this compact SUV will be manufactured in China, while another source revealed that Tesla also plans to expand production to the United States and Europe.
The vehicle will measure 4.28 meters (approximately 14 feet) in length, significantly shorter than Tesla's best-selling Model Y SUV (approximately 15.7 feet). Previously, Elon Musk decided to cancel the highly anticipated low-cost electric vehicle project in 2024, shifting the company's focus to robotaxis and humanoid robots.
This latest attempt to develop a smaller SUV raises a critical question: does it signify a strategic return to mass-market, manually driven electric vehicles, or will the new car align more closely with Tesla's vision for fully autonomous vehicles? According to sources and an employee, this model may serve both purposes. The employee declined to confirm or deny details about any specific model but stated that, overall, Tesla's current goal is to create driverless vehicles that also offer a manual driving option.
