Golden Finance reported on March 27, citing Bloomberg, that Apple Inc. has issued stock incentives to iPhone hardware designers this week to prevent employees from jumping ship to OpenAI and other artificial intelligence startups. According to insiders, Apple has awarded "special bonuses" worth $200,000 to $400,000 to several members of the iPhone product design team. These bonuses are distributed in the form of stocks and will vest over four years, requiring employees to stay with the company for four years to receive the full benefits, with potential returns increasing alongside stock prices.
The report states that Apple management is concerned about engineers being poached by competitors, with OpenAI posing a particularly significant threat. Since the beginning of 2023, OpenAI has already recruited dozens of engineers from Apple and plans to expand its workforce from 4,500 to 8,000 employees by the end of 2026. Apple's issuance of special bonuses is a direct response to the talent competition from AI companies. However, the bonuses offered by Apple are still far lower than those provided by companies like OpenAI. Reportedly, some AI companies offer individuals stock incentives worth approximately $1 million annually. (CCTV Finance)
