[Anthropic Featured on TIME Cover for Upholding Military Red Lines: Valued at $380 Billion, Called 'The World's Most Disruptive Company']
According to TIME, AI company Anthropic has been featured on the cover of TIME magazine. During contract negotiations with the Pentagon, the company refused to accept the 'all lawful uses' clause, explicitly opposing the use of Claude for fully autonomous lethal weapons and mass surveillance targeting U.S. citizens. As a result, the U.S. Department of Defense classified Anthropic as a national security risk to the supply chain and banned it from participating in military contracts.
Meanwhile, Anthropic has revised its 'Responsible Scaling Policy' in its race to develop more powerful models, removing the rigid commitment to pause training when safety cannot be demonstrated, and instead only committing to safety investments 'on par with or exceeding' industry standards.
The company has experienced rapid growth with products like Claude Code, achieving a valuation of approximately $380 billion. Its technology has been utilized in mission planning and intelligence analysis during U.S. military operations, such as the capture of former Venezuelan President Maduro.
