This move is part of Ripple's active efforts over the past year to secure licenses globally. In a statement on Tuesday, Ripple said it will acquire BC Payments Australia, a corporate entity associated with Europe's Banking Circle Group. This acquisition will enable Ripple to obtain the Australian Financial Services License (AFSL) held by the company. According to regulations, certain crypto companies must hold this license to provide financial services in Australia. The Australian newspaper reported, citing Fiona Murray, Ripple's Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region, that the acquisition of BC Payments Australia is expected to be completed on April 1. Murray stated that institutional investors' interest in digital assets is high enough to justify this investment.
