Today I wrote an introduction to Kaku for my personal use, and I would like to share it with everyone. I hope interested friends can have some fun. Kaku: A Fast Out of the Box AI Friendly Terminal https://(GitHub)/tw93/Kaku Why do we need to do it I have always wanted a Mac terminal that I can use comfortably, fast enough, user-friendly by default, and supports multiple tabs and split screens. Alacrity is very agile but lacks tabs, Ghostty's font rendering is not to my liking, I don't understand why Warp needs to be logged in, and I have encountered many minor issues with managing Kitty windows. Later, when I used WezTerm, I found that it had strong modifiability, so I made deep modifications based on it. I deleted a bunch of compatible modules that I didn't use, redone the loading and default experience, and made it Kaku. Currently, 5 major versions have been released, which can be recommended for everyone to use What are the advantages Zero configuration default experience, commonly used shell components for font rendering themes have been polished AI Shell fixes errors, provides repair suggestions for command failures directly, apply with one click using CMD+Shift+E Kaku AI unified management of Claude Code Codex Gemini CLI and other tool configurations • Built in yazi and lazygit, with file management using CMD+Shift+Y, and Git workflow using CMD+Shift+G • Input like a text editor, select all with CMD+A, use Shift arrow keys to expand selection, and directly replace selected with input Multi split screen efficiency, CMD+D split screen, CMD+Shift+S cut horizontal and vertical split screen, CMD+Opt+directional keys jump split screen • Detail experience, select automatic copying and Toast prompt, background Tab flash point reminder, Kaku Doctor one click diagnosis and repair How do I use it Kaku is more like a terminal that packages workflows directly, without the need for you to tinker with configuration for a long time before starting to feel comfortable. You can use it as a daily terminal environment for AI coding: running Claude Code while doing reviews, and then looking at diff at the bottom, tab to open items, and use shortcut keys to switch back and forth in the split screen, which will greatly improve focus. Welcome to use At present, Kaku is still in the process of continuous refinement and will continue to add features, but the direction is clear: faster, more convenient, and less hassle. Welcome to try it out. If you encounter a bug, please raise an issue directly.
