[Ethereum Network Activity Surge May Be Linked to Address Poisoning Attacks, Resulting in $740,000 Losses] According to a report by Cointelegraph, security researcher Andrey Sergeenkov pointed out that the recent surge in Ethereum transactions and address activity may be due to large-scale address poisoning attacks exploiting low gas fees. These attacks involve forging similar addresses to conduct 'dusting attacks,' tricking users into transferring funds to incorrect addresses. Following the Fusaka upgrade, transaction fees have dropped by over 60%, significantly reducing the cost of such attacks. Research shows that more than 116,000 people have fallen victim, with cumulative losses exceeding $740,000.
