Massachusetts Government:
A CARTEL WITH A PR TEAM.
72% of MA voters demanded an audit by making it the LAW.
Beacon Hill said NO.
@RonMariano, @Spilka4Congress, @MassGovernor, and @MassAGO are actively blocking transparency.
WHY?
Because we’ve seen this movie already.
CA: $70 billion lost to fraud and no one held accountable.
MN: massive public-fund theft schemes exposed only after audits, investigations and prosecutions.
When politicians fight audits, it’s never because government is “working.” It’s because fraud, waste, abuse, and political patronage don’t survive sunlight.
If MA leaders are so confident in their stewardship, open the books. Refusing an audit after a 72% vote is not leadership - it’s fear and it’s a big🖕to voters.
Yet, the MA media is silent. Sure once-in-a-while a journalist or commentator will make a soft inquiry about the audit but no real hard-hitting questions ever get asked.
The failure to comply with THE AUDIT LAW should be wall-to-wall news. Instead, the MSM plays defense for power. The NO KINGS Rally got wall-to-wall coverage. Yet, MA operates as an autocracy significantly more than the federal government does.
And that’s a fact!
In light of what’s happening in CA and MN, the failure to allow the audit should be the lead story every single day.
Instead, the MSM runs cover, looks the other way, and protects power.
When the press goes quiet, corruption gets loud.
And that’s a fact!
Every reporter should be asking about the audit. Every time RonMariano, Karen Spilka, Andrea Campbell, Maura Healey, or any other elected official in MA opens their mouth, a journalist should have a 🙋♂️ regarding the failure to conduct the audit.
The fact that @maura_healey told @jimbraude and @MargeryEagan on @BosPublicRadio that she’s powerless to force the audit is shameful and should disqualify her from reelection. The same applies to @MassAGO.
@EdMarkey and @ewarren’s silence on the issue shows you where their loyalty lies. Shame on them for not speaking out. But, as we know, they put party before people - before MA and America.
Some will argue that as a candidate for U.S. Senate I shouldn’t call out the press as I am. That it will paint a 🎯 on my back. If that’s what it takes to get coverage of the single biggest story and issue in MA - I’m ok with it.
The sad truth is that MA is not currently operating as a Democracy. The reality is when elected officials fear audits and the press refuses to ask why, that’s not democracy - that’s a CARTEL WITH A PR TEAM.
