**[Citadel Records Worst Return Since 2018]**
Odaily Planet Daily reports that billionaire Ken Griffin's hedge fund, Citadel, is facing its worst annual return since 2018 after a failed bet in the natural gas sector, which had previously been a major source of the fund's profits. According to a source familiar with the matter, as of December 18, the flagship fund's return stood at 9.3%. The fund made gains in equities, fixed income, credit, and quantitative strategies, and even achieved a slight profit in commodities (including natural gas) after suffering losses earlier in the year. Nevertheless, with less than two weeks remaining in the year, 2023 may become the sixth year since Citadel's founding in 1990 where its annual return falls below 10%, highlighting the firm's reliance on commodities trading in recent years, which has driven its high returns.
