Previously mentioned that Ethereum's @ethereum post-upgrade DA scaling hard fork BPO is more of a 'nice-to-have' rather than a 'must-have,' and recent data has confirmed this point. According to data from @growthepie_eth, one week after the BPO1 upgrade on December 9, Ethereum L1 block DA utilization rate climbed, with the average number of blobs used per block reaching 7, compared to the pre-BPO1 upgrade average of around 5. So, no need to overthink the chicken-and-egg problem here. Whether it's L2's adoption of blobs driving the increase in DA capacity supply, or the increase in DA capacity supply driving L2's adoption of blobs, it doesn't really matter. The significant potential increase in DA capacity means that even if L2 adoption spikes suddenly, the DA layer can handle it with ease. Next up, what we can look forward to is the return of the gods—those existing and potential high-performance L2s.
