[Gemini Approved by CFTC to Establish Prediction Market, May Expand to Crypto Futures, Options, and Perpetual Contracts in the Future] Odaily Planet Daily News – Gemini Space Station, Inc. (GEMI) has been approved by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to operate as a **Designated Contract Market (DCM)** and has officially entered the prediction market sector. Gemini announced that its new platform, Gemini Titan, will initially launch with classic binary event contracts, allowing users to place 'yes/no' bets on future events. Gemini stated that in the future, Titan is expected to further expand into other derivative markets regulated by the CFTC, including crypto futures, options, and perpetual contracts. Public information shows that Gemini initially submitted its DCM license application on March 10, 2020, but did not disclose details of its plan to build a prediction market at the time. DCM is the standard regulatory framework for derivative trading markets under the CFTC, applicable to the majority of regulated trading platforms. The prediction market sector is currently experiencing rapid growth. Kalshi and Polymarket saw significant expansion during last year’s U.S. election cycle, which further accelerated after Trump took office. According to data from The Block, both platforms recorded their best-ever trading volumes in October and November of this year, with strong performance expected to continue into December. (The Block)
