[Thailand's Data Regulator Orders World to Delete Over 1.2 Million Iris Data Records and Suspend Operations]
Thailand's Personal Data Protection Committee has ordered the digital identity project World (formerly known as Worldcoin), co-founded by Sam Altman, to delete approximately 1.2 million iris scan records and suspend operations, stating that exchanging cryptocurrency for biometric data violates local data laws. Local crypto platforms Binance, Bitkub, and Orbix have advised users to exercise caution when trading WLD. According to the Bangkok Post, executives from the Thai installation contractor M Vision have raised objections, claiming that the deletion would result in user losses of approximately $31 million.
