chain infra metas come and go - eg. PoW launches used to be the standard (last one was ironfish in '23) the L1/L2 dynamic will play out similarly - will be strange to look back on new L1s choosing to pay $$$$ for security instead of using it to attract users, liquidity etc.(trent.eth)
