The launch of the KSh5 billion business support component of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project marks a major milestone in youth empowerment in our country, a decisive step to expand opportunities for young people in business.
It supports 110,000 youth entrepreneurs in growing their ventures, improving their lives, and creating opportunities for others. By disbursing KSh50,000 grants to 70 young businesspeople in each of the 1,450 wards, the programme ensures inclusivity and equity across the nation.
Through digital technology, the identification of beneficiaries guarantees transparency, fairness, and easy access for all.
Officially launched NYOTA, Mumias Sports Complex, Kakamega County. The programme's other components also provide apprenticeship and employment opportunities, recognises prior learning in various skills, promotes youth savings, and builds capacity for young people to trade with the government.(William Samoei Ruto, PhD)
