In the first days after Hurricane Melissa, relief was reactive, responding to urgent cries for help. That phase is over. We have now moved to a systematic, long-term relief effort coordinated by ODPEM under the Office of the Prime Minister, in close partnership with the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). The JDF’s logistics, engineering, and operational capacity, built through years of investment, provides the backbone for this response. Our goal is to reach every affected community and deliver sustained aid to an estimated 600,000 Jamaicans across six parishes.
