The classic mining project Ore, which once 'mined Solana's network to a halt,' is making a comeback. The new V2 mining protocol, launched on October 22, not only brought Ore back into the spotlight after months of silence but also staged a 'bull run against the trend' in a sluggish market—$ORE token prices skyrocketed over 2400% in a single month, daily protocol revenue surpassed $300,000, and even Solana's official account shared their support, which is rare. At the core of V2 is an on-chain 'game of strategy.' The entire system consists of 25 grids, where miners stake $SOL to 'claim space,' with each round lasting 1 minute. The system randomly selects a winning block, and the $SOL from the other 24 blocks is distributed proportionally to the winner, who also receives an additional reward of 1 $ORE. The protocol also introduces a jackpot mechanism called 'Motherlode,' which accumulates 0.2 $ORE per round and has a 1/625 chance of triggering a bonus prize. If the jackpot isn’t triggered, the rewards continue to accumulate, incentivizing miners to participate long-term. What’s even more ingenious is that Ore charges a 10% 'refinement fee' when rewards are claimed, redistributing it to miners who haven’t withdrawn yet. This means 'the longer you hold, the higher your earnings,' effectively discouraging short-term sell-offs. Additionally, the protocol takes 10% of the $SOL mining revenue, with 90% of it being burned and 10% distributed to stakers, achieving 'mining with deflation.' Data shows that in the past 7 days, the total supply of $ORE has already decreased by 400 tokens. This new model, combining game theory and deflationary design, is considered one of the most innovative economic experiments on Solana. Compared to the earlier V1 version, V2 not only resolves the high-frequency transaction issues that previously caused network congestion but also redefines the mining experience by integrating GameFi and DeFi mechanisms. However, whether the hype can be sustained remains to be seen. The previous Ore craze quickly fizzled out due to exploitation of its mechanisms, but now it aims to rebuild trust with 'sustained incentives + deflationary logic.' As one developer commented: 'Ore isn’t just mining; it’s the first sustainable economic game on Solana.'
