My personal definition of OKB is still a platform token, and it still needs the exchange's empowerment. Here are a few possible empowerment points:
Dividends (buyback and burn), low probability.
Exchange profits, wallet profits—these all have to make way for the IPO. The original intention of OKB's narrative is, on one hand, to pay back old token holders, and on the other hand, to pave the way for the IPO. Although it hasn’t been explicitly stated, this is basically the idea, and everyone can see it.
Burning is unlikely; the total supply can’t be reduced further.
OKB consumption on xLayer, hard to achieve in the short term.
xLayer focuses on low transaction fees. The number of zeros after a single transaction fee is so many I didn’t even bother counting. At this rate, generating significant consumption is only possible if xLayer is used at high frequency. It’s tough for a public chain to reach this level quickly.
Airdrops, new token launches.
At its core, it’s still about exchange profits. Exchanges won’t blindly distribute profits—it’s either to maintain market share or to pump the price.
