Just saw that the largest Prop AMM dark pool, HumidiFi, is actually planning to launch a token. Launching a token at the peak of its business might help secure a higher market valuation and premium.
Prop AMM has grown rapidly on Solana this year, now accounting for almost 35%-40% of Solana DEX daily trading volume, with HumidiFi making up 60% of Prop AMM's trading volume.
In fact, HumidiFi was only launched in mid-June this year, and its daily trading volume is already consistently over $1 billion. Forget Prop AMM—it's fair to say it's the largest DEX on Solana. Breaking down the trading volume, the dark pool mainly serves large-scale SOL-USDC trades, and even for transactions worth millions of dollars, the slippage is extremely low.
From another perspective, competition within Prop AMM is also heating up. There are now at least 8 players in the dark pool business, compared to just 2 at the beginning of the year. To capture market share, newcomers launching tokens first might hurt HumidiFi's valuation, so it makes sense for them to strike first while they can.
HumidiFi choosing Jupiter for its ICO is an interesting move. Gotta say, Jupiter's ecosystem is really strong—Meme Launchpad (DBC), ICO (DTF), Meteora (DEX), Jupiter (DEX Aggregator), Perps, Lend, and data solutions all wrapped up in one.
