Jamaicans are more connected today than ever before, and that means we are also more exposed to cyber threats. The truth is, most breaches happen because of simple everyday habits, emails sent without care, sensitive data copied, or thumb drives used where they shouldn’t be.
We also overshare online, and with the rise of “smart” devices, doorbells, locks, speakers, even fridges, our personal information is being collected and transmitted constantly.
The question is, where does all that data go?
Protecting ourselves starts with simple steps:
✔️ Review your digital footprint and reduce unnecessary exposure.
✔️ Keep your devices updated and properly secured.
✔️ Guard your digital secrets, your passwords, your Wi-Fi access, your networks at home and at work.
Good cyber hygiene at the individual level leads to stronger businesses, better policies, and a more secure Jamaica.
But above all, we must report incidents. If we don’t report, our Cyber Emergency Response Team cannot defend us effectively.
Cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility. Let us protect our digital future.(Andrew Holness)
