[Chairman of the U.S. House Republican Appropriations Committee Pushes to Delay Temporary Funding Bill Until November] Odaily Planet Daily reports, according to foreign media, Tom Cole, chairman of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, stated on Tuesday that he is pushing for a stopgap measure to delay the threat of a government shutdown this month until November, allowing more time for funding negotiations. Congress must reach an agreement by September 30 to maintain government funding, or it will face the risk of its first shutdown in years. When asked about his preferred timeline for the stopgap measure, Cole said he hopes to see a measure "until November," which would freeze funding at current levels while lawmakers negotiate bills for the 2026 fiscal year. Cole mentioned that lawmakers are specifically discussing pushing the deadline back at least to November 6, but he added, "At the latest, we will aim for before Thanksgiving, such as the 20th."
