Wu Blockchain has learned from crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett that Matt Galeotti, Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, stated in Jackson Hole that if a software system is truly decentralized, fully automated, and facilitates peer-to-peer transactions without any third party controlling user assets, the DOJ will no longer charge third parties under Section 1960(b)(1)(C) even if there is criminal intent. This section was previously used to charge Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm. Galeotti also mentioned that well-intentioned innovators need not fear losing their freedom.
