According to the latest report from Elliptic, as of 2025, approximately $21.8 billion in illegal funds have been transferred through decentralized exchanges, cross chain bridges, and currency exchange services, a more than threefold increase from $7 billion in 2023. About $2.5 billion (12% of the total) came from North Korean hackers, and about $300 million came from sanctioned Iranian encryption services. Previously, data showed that the total amount of illegal transactions on the blockchain reached 45 billion US dollars in 2024, accounting for 0.4% of the annual total of 10.6 trillion US dollars in encrypted transactions.
