According to BlockBeats, on June 16th, the SlowMist security team recently reported a major incident: an investor purchased a cold wallet through a short video platform, and as a result, encrypted assets worth up to 50 million yuan were stolen. The wallet was pre installed with a backdoor by hackers when generating the private key, and the assets were looted within a few hours. Such 'fake cold wallets' are not uncommon, especially hardware wallets purchased through unofficial channels, which are highly susceptible to tampering and pose great risks. The truly secure approach should be to generate private keys offline, manually copy mnemonic words, physically isolate storage, and stay away from power and networks, in order to be called a 'real cold wallet'. Unfortunately, most users find it difficult to achieve this, ultimately resulting in tragedy due to momentary carelessness or a desire for convenience.
