Five years have passed. Do you know how I've spent these past five years? Ni Da has a classic saying: Midterm elections are like the US presidential election. The sharper the drop before the midterm election, the stronger the rise after. Looking back at recent examples, after the 2020 election, the market experienced an epic surge; you can look at the candlestick chart yourself. After the 2022 midterm election, Bitcoin doubled: from $16,000 to over $30,000. Nvidia's stock also began a one-sided rise from then on, from less than $15 to over $200. After the 2024 election, Bitcoin has been hitting new all-time highs since $70,000. Now it's another midterm election year. But there's a special situation right now: the US-Iran geopolitical situation is affecting oil prices, creating inflationary pressure and leading to expectations of interest rate hikes. Currently, Iran has submitted a statement that it will open the Strait of Hormuz within two days if certain conditions are met. We'll see how Trump responds. Furthermore, the APEC meeting is scheduled for the 18th and 19th of this month, during which the US and China will meet again. Regardless, easing tensions is the ultimate goal. Currently, the market expects only 1-2 more rate hikes. If there's only one in December, coupled with easing geopolitical tensions and falling oil prices, the market will likely anticipate the end of the rate hike cycle once it's implemented. This will give risk markets a significant breather. We'll see how things unfold. (DYOR)
