[Circle Releases Guide on How Third-Party ERC-20 Tokens Can Connect to CCTP for Cross-Chain Access] Jinse Finance reports that on October 31st, Circle released a developer guide explaining how token issuers can use the CCTP cross-chain transfer protocol to enable cross-chain access for ERC-20 tokens other than USDC. Issuers can deploy new native cross-chain tokens via CCTP or configure existing ERC-20 tokens as custom CCTP connections. Both methods reuse Circle's messaging and proof-of-concept infrastructure, employing a burn-mint model. Issuers can set the owner, operator, suspension permissions, rate limits, and single-transaction limits themselves; Circle cannot take over control.
According to Circle's developer documentation, CCTP for non-USDC will launch in September 2026 and currently supports EVM chains such as Ethereum, Avalanche, OP Mainnet, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon PoS, and Arc, but not non-EVM chains such as Solana.
