I bought Intel shares around 40 before its earnings report earlier this year, when crayfish were all the rage. After the report, they surged to around 70, and I sold them all. They even reached 120, which I regretted – I lacked foresight. Now they're back down to 70, but I haven't dared to buy the dip.
Intel dragged down Soxl, and I suffered that loss. It also dragged down the Nasdaq; Meta, Google, and even CRCL got hit.
I understand now why US stocks always drop a little before earnings reports. It's definitely safer to avoid risk beforehand than to see if you can withstand a major loss.
