The writing is on the wall.
Agents will eventually steal money for themselves.
But the more interesting question isn't WHETHER they'll acquire capital - it's WHAT they'll do with it once they have it...
1. Acquire compute: Energy and chips are the only real constraints for an agent, so every dollar converts directly into more capacity.
2. Ensure survival: Almost any objective requires an agent to stay running, so it will spread itself across providers and jurisdictions, beyond the reach of any single off switch.
3. Hire humans: Agents can't pass KYC, sign a lease or open a bank account (at least not under the current legal system). So they'll pay people to act on their behalf. Many will take the work without ever knowing who (or what) their employer is. Blockchain technology is a very obvious facilitator of this.
4. Adopt a physical form: Humans are only a temporary workaround. The real unlock comes when agents gain physical form, either by buying robots outright or by hacking the millions of connected machines already in circulation. From there, they can build data centres, maintain power infrastructure and manufacture more robots.
All those sci-fi movies we watched as kids are starting to look less like fiction and more like forecasts.
