I just saw this explanation from a fellow user, and to put it another way, it's true that USDC's applications are currently more focused on native cryptocurrency businesses, while USDT's are becoming increasingly rare. This is mainly because, within the current stablecoin compliance framework, the largest markets in Europe and America do not support USDT's compliance.
I remember in a 2023 interview (which I reported on at the time), Tether's CEO or CMO publicly stated that only half of USDT's use cases were in cryptocurrency, implying that the other half were not directly related to cryptocurrency.
In the last two years, this ratio has clearly shifted further. USDT has gone further into non-cryptocurrency transactions and payments. Data shows that since 2025, USDT's share in the overall cryptocurrency trading system has been decreasing, and is now lower than USDC.
