🐋 WHALE WATCH : PENDLE lost 93% of its TVL from the September 2025 peak of $13.39B. DeFiLlama shows $958M today down 20% in 30 days. The headline numbers are ugly. The activity underneath them is more interesting. Pendle V2 has done $94.4B in cumulative trading volume. Boros the newer derivatives product has processed $7.1B since launch roughly 7.5% of V2s lifetime volume in a fraction of the time. Boros open interest sits at $129.8M. The revenue gap is wide. V2 runs $15.9M annualized. Boros contributes $800K. Boros revenue also stays internal rather than flowing to token holders so trading activity doesn’t translate into yield for holders yet. The thesis here is infrastructure. V2 splits yield-bearing assets into principal and yield components. Boros takes that same logic into perpetual funding rates letting traders hedge or speculate on where those rates go. Funding rate markets exist regardless of which yield strategy is in fashion which gives Pendle a demand source that doesnt depend on the current DeFi cycle. Two risks worth watching: TVL keeps declining and Boros hasnt proven it can convert volume into meaningful protocol revenue. If Boros OI grows past $130M and starts generating sustainable revenue alongside a V2 deposit recovery the investment case tightens. Until then watchlist.
