[South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance Holds Talks with Five Exchanges: No Clear Decision on Delaying or Abolishing Virtual Asset Taxation] According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance has held a discussion on virtual asset taxation with five exchange operators—Dunamu, Bithumb, DigitalX, Coinone, and Streami—as well as the Financial Services Commission and other institutions. The meeting focused on current tax regulations, market conditions, tax preparation efforts, and the possibility of delaying or abolishing the taxation policy, but no clear decision was made regarding these measures. It is reported that South Korea's virtual asset taxation policy was established in 2020 and was originally scheduled to be implemented in 2022. However, it has been postponed multiple times to 2023, 2025, and now 2027. The National Tax Service of South Korea is currently preparing detailed guidelines, but issues such as staking still require consultation with the Ministry of Economy and Finance. If the guidelines are released next month, there will be only about two months left before the planned implementation date.
