Tesla and SpaceX have set up a special committee to explore the possibility of a merger.
Currently, SpaceX's valuation is around $2 trillion; Tesla's is about $1.5 trillion. A merger could help strengthen Musk's control, potentially giving him around 37% equity and approximately 56% voting power post-merger. This would make management easier, allow resource sharing, and reduce redundant investments.
However, the biggest obstacle to the merger right now is the high approval threshold from Tesla shareholders: they want all shares, not just 50%.
