[Elon Musk: SpaceX is internally exploring chip manufacturing, aiming for mass production by March 2028] Odaily Planet Daily News: SpaceX released its third-quarter financial report earlier this morning after the U.S. stock market closed. During the investor call following the report, analyst Adam Jonas asked Elon Musk about whether SpaceX has purchased photolithography equipment and the progress of its internal chip manufacturing efforts. Elon Musk responded: 'We are currently still exploring chip manufacturing technology. I can share some of our internal expectations, though these expectations obviously carry significant uncertainty because we don’t yet know if we can truly achieve our goals. Internally, our current target is to produce the first test chip that can operate normally by around May or June next year. This will likely be an SRAM chip or something similar, primarily used to test the entire production line. It will be completed at the research wafer fab in Austin. Our goal is to achieve large-scale mass production by the third quarter of 2028 at the Terafab main facility located in Gibbons Creek. Of course, these timelines are very ambitious. To achieve this goal, we are deeply grateful to ASML and all other suppliers for their support and for accelerating equipment delivery schedules.'
