[Anthropic Reportedly Posts $80.7 Billion Net Loss in First Half of the Year, May Spend Another $750 Billion on Compute Power in Coming Years] According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 21, Anthropic may spend an additional $750 billion on purchasing compute power over the next few years. A draft prospectus reveals that this artificial intelligence company posted a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of fiscal year 2026, significantly higher than the $13 billion net loss during the same period last year. The report states that the majority of the net loss in the first half ($72 billion) stems from accounting expenses related to changes in the value of convertible notes and other instruments issued by Anthropic. As one of the leading AI developers, Anthropic is expected to publicly file for an IPO in the coming weeks. The listing will help the company raise additional funds to invest in chips, data centers, and talent, as well as to develop newer and more powerful AI models. During the six months ending June 30, Anthropic spent nearly $9 billion on compute power and infrastructure, compared to $2.3 billion during the same period in 2025. Anthropic's spending on compute power in the first half of this year has already exceeded the $7.3 billion spent in all of 2025.
