[Nearly 10,000 Users in the UK Complain About Banks Restricting Crypto Transfers, Lloyds, Barclays, and NatWest Lead in Complaints]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on October 20, according to Cointelegraph, the crypto advocacy organization Stand With Crypto stated that between May and August 2026, a total of 9,803 individuals used its online tool to submit 10,092 complaints to UK banks regarding restrictions on transfers to crypto platforms. Among them, Lloyds Banking Group received 2,297 complaints, Barclays received 1,569, and NatWest Group received 1,278.
The report indicates significant differences in the restrictions imposed by various banks on crypto transfers. Barclays and HSBC UK were listed as having a single transfer limit of £2,500 and a 30-day cumulative limit of £10,000. Meanwhile, six banks, including Starling Bank, TSB, and Chase UK, were identified as completely prohibiting crypto-related transfers.
Stand With Crypto also pointed out that Lloyds Banking Group and Revolut do not have publicly disclosed policies on crypto transfer restrictions but still received user complaints. These disputes arise as the UK prepares to implement a new digital asset regulatory framework in 2027.
