[Rumors of SpaceX and Tesla Merger Intensify, Wall Street Estimates $480 Per Share Transaction Plan]
BlockBeats News, October 20: As SpaceX and Tesla are set to release their third-quarter financial reports, Wall Street is accelerating its evaluation of the potential merger valuation and financing arrangements for the two companies. However, Elon Musk and the related companies have not officially announced any merger plans. Barclays analysts predict that the two parties may announce transaction news by the end of this year. If the merger is conducted entirely through stock, Musk could hold approximately 37% of the merged company’s equity and about 56% of its voting rights. Analysts at RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) proposed a hypothetical transaction price of $480 per share, estimating that original SpaceX shareholders might hold approximately 52% of the merged company’s equity. These analyses do not represent confirmed transaction arrangements.
Artificial intelligence (AI) business is seen as the primary rationale for the potential integration. SpaceX absorbed Musk’s AI enterprise xAI earlier this February and has been focusing on rocket launches, Starlink satellite internet, and AI computing infrastructure. Tesla, on the other hand, specializes in autonomous driving, robotaxis, and humanoid robots, with both companies jointly advancing the Terafab chip manufacturing project. However, SpaceX’s AI investments have also led to significant financing demands. Reports indicate that the company’s second-quarter revenue was $7.8 billion, with a net loss of $541 million, and AI capital expenditures reaching $15.8 billion.
Morgan Stanley analysts estimate that SpaceX may need to issue approximately $80 billion in debt next year. Meanwhile, Starlink’s expansion and spectrum acquisitions will further increase capital requirements. This week’s financial reports will serve as a critical window for the market to assess SpaceX’s financing pressures, Starlink’s profitability, and the feasibility of a potential merger between the two companies.
