[Wintermute: Bitcoin's $82,500 Price Range Will Soon Be Broken, FOMC Meeting Could Be the Key Turning Point]
Wintermute stated in its latest market weekly report that with the Federal Reserve meeting and midterm elections approaching, implied volatility remains low. It is expected that BTC's consolidation around the $82,500 range will soon see a breakout, though the specific direction is currently uncertain. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on October 28 is most likely to serve as the turning point to break the stalemate, and the outcome could lead to drastically different directions: if the Federal Reserve keeps interest rates unchanged but adopts a hawkish stance, the market will preemptively price in expectations of a December rate hike, leading to rising yields, which would put pressure on the Nasdaq index and drag Bitcoin prices lower. Conversely, if the Federal Reserve adopts a cautious stance and third-quarter earnings outperform expectations, the aforementioned pressure will be alleviated, creating room for bulls to push the price above $87,000.
