Recently, a lot of people have been freaking out over what Brother Sun @justinsuntron said during his interview with Xiandao about bitcoin:native and cryptographic attacks! Here’s the interview video for everyone to check out: https://www.(youtube.com)/watch?v=o9Jn__LGGI4 I won’t analyze Brother Sun’s other viewpoints from the interview, but I want to focus on the topic of quantum attacks and Bitcoin risks. As a BTC MAX, this is a core topic I’m always paying attention to, and it’s also central to my circle of focus: The key to Bitcoin’s quantum resistance lies in “technical breakthroughs + legacy coin issues + coordination challenges.” Honestly, the point I agree with the most here is: Bitcoin cannot treat “having quantum-resistant algorithms” as “having already solved quantum risks.” So, Brother Sun’s concerns are actually quite valid. The issue of Bitcoin upgrades and asset migration speed not keeping up with advancements in cryptographic attack capabilities is a very real problem. With AI developing so rapidly, this is definitely possible. That said, there’s currently no evidence proving that Bitcoin’s elliptic curve signatures have been practically compromised, nor can we use these breakthroughs to definitively predict that BTC will face a quantum security crisis in 3 years, 5 years, or even 10 years. Also, for major institutions that completely lack understanding in this area, there’s some skepticism. So, I think we can keep learning, stay updated, and prepare seriously, but we shouldn’t equate scientific progress directly with attack capabilities being fully formed. At the same time, there’s no need to panic about Bitcoin’s network collapsing just yet. Here are some reasons why I think things might not be as bad as they seem:
