[Prime Trust Estate Administrator Wins $9 Million Default Judgment Against Justin Sun's Poloniex]
According to a report by Protos on October 17, Deep Tide TechFlow reports that the bankruptcy estate administrator of Prime Trust has won a default judgment of approximately $9 million against Justin Sun's exchange, Poloniex. The case pertains to a clawback lawsuit involving preferential transfers made prior to bankruptcy.
The background of the case is that shortly before Prime Trust's bankruptcy, it decided to terminate its cooperation with Poloniex and other entities associated with Justin Sun due to a lawsuit filed by the U.S. SEC against Justin Sun (which has since been withdrawn). During this period, over $9 million was transferred to Poloniex and Justin Sun.
Subsequently, Prime Trust fell into severe insolvency due to its failure to properly safeguard crypto assets and its misuse of customer deposits to cover deficits, leading to bankruptcy proceedings and the filing of this lawsuit to recover the funds.
The current judgment applies only to Poloniex's operating entity, Polo Digital Assets LTD. Prime Trust is still seeking discovery against Justin Sun personally. Additionally, the FTX estate administrator has also filed lawsuits against Justin Sun, as well as his entities HTX and Poloniex.
