alright, i keep looking into the Glamsterdam EIPs. let's take EIP-8246: https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-8246. we have more than 26,792 ETH sitting in major burn addresses. EIP-8246 wants to remove the remaining SELFDESTRUCT burn mechanics (see my quoted tweet, where i showcase the mechanics to be removed). and yes, it's correct that this mechanism is barely used in practice (unfortunately). but that's my challenge: is this not a failure on our part to make the possibility more prominent? i mean, i literally spoke to various smart contract devs today. _none_ (no joking) of them knew that you could _truly_ burn ETH at the protocol level. so, hmmmmm, instead of continuing to send eth to dead addresses, we should make "irreversible" burning more accessible if you ask me. even better, we should introduce a first-class burn primitive w/o requiring some fancy EVM magic. ulitmately, ETH sitting in dead addresses is effectively useless (unless i find their pk one day with my 24M-qubit machine lol), but it still exists in the protocol's state. irreversibly destroying ETH would actually remove it from the supply and makes it "cleaner".
