⚡️Today, SK Hynix and Micron stocks took a nosedive—was it all because of something Elon Musk said?
He remarked: “Once China masters manufacturing technology, their capacity expansion often surpasses the rest of the world combined.”
Right now, lithium batteries and solar energy have been driven down to rock-bottom prices by China, capturing over 70% of the global market share!
But he broke down memory into two layers:
First layer: General standards.
LPDDR5, LPDDR6. China is rapidly making breakthroughs.
Second layer: HBM.
New architecture, SRAM below the logic layer, 3D stacking above the logic layer, and cooling. Much harder.
So, this wave of SK Hynix and Micron sell-offs isn’t about “China taking over the entire market.” It’s capital preemptively repricing for “China’s standardized capacity expansion.”
Goldman Sachs predicts ChangXin’s monthly production capacity will double in four years, covering about 50% of China’s DRAM demand by 2028.
But HBM remains a profit barrier.
General DRAM is turning into the next dirt-cheap “lithium battery.”
And the endgame for the capacity business is always the same:
Price war❗️
China wins❗️
SK Hynix and Micron stocks? They’ve got further to fall.
