[CXMT Announces Breakthrough in Memory Chip Technology, Triggering Stock Price Drops for Samsung and SK Hynix] According to Bloomberg, CXMT (ChangXin Memory Technologies) President Cao Kanyu announced at an industry conference in Shanghai that the company will launch a new generation of data center server memory chips using 4F² architecture by the end of the year. The 4F² design allows the integration of the same storage units within a smaller area, a technological threshold that Samsung and SK Hynix have been unable to achieve for years. If true, this would mean CXMT has made a breakthrough despite U.S. sanctions and being unable to access cutting-edge equipment from ASML. Cao Kanyu stated that the solution utilizes Vertical Surrounding Gate stacked transistors to reduce leakage. The news triggered a global sell-off in chip stocks, with Samsung and SK Hynix falling over 7% in South Korea's stock market on Tuesday, and Micron closing down 4% overnight. CXMT's DRAM market share has risen from 4% in the same period last year to 10% in the second quarter of this year.
