**[Kalshi Applies to Launch Perpetual Contracts Tied to U.S. Individual Stocks]**
BlockBeats News, September 20: Kalshi has applied to launch perpetual futures contracts tied to U.S. individual stocks, joining Coinbase in promoting the introduction of crypto-style derivatives into the traditional stock market. The prediction market platform submitted a proposed rule change document to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Friday and sent the related proposal to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for approval. Currently, the CFTC has not yet approved the proposal.
The proposed contracts will have no preset expiration date and will maintain alignment with the underlying stock prices through periodic funding rates between long and short positions. Kalshi stated that these contracts will be classified as security futures products and will be cleared through its CFTC-registered clearinghouse, Kalshi Klear.
This application coincides with another proposal submitted by Coinbase on the same day to launch perpetual futures tied to U.S. individual stocks. Both companies aim to bring this popular derivative product in the crypto market to the traditional stock market. [Original Link]
