[Musk, Zuckerberg, and Jensen Huang Oppose, Trump Decides Not to Establish AI Industry Self-Regulatory Body]
According to the Wall Street Journal, Musk, Zuckerberg, and Jensen Huang have all expressed opposition to Trump regarding the establishment of an AI industry self-regulatory body modeled after FINRA. Trump ultimately decided not to proceed with its establishment. The proposal was put forward by Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis in July, aiming to create an independent body to test cybersecurity, biological, and deception risks up to 30 days prior to the public release of frontier models. Initially, participation would be voluntary, with the possibility of transitioning to mandatory involvement later, under government supervision.
