[India's New Semiconductor Policy Secures $12 Billion Investment Commitments] According to Bloomberg, within months of launching its new semiconductor industry policy, India has received cumulative investment commitments of approximately $12 billion from global and domestic companies. These investments involve supply chain enterprises in chip equipment, materials, and chemicals. The surge in interest stems from India's announcement in July of an additional $13.4 billion semiconductor fund, complementing a previous $10 billion subsidy plan to support companies like Tata Group and Micron in building wafer fabs and packaging and testing facilities locally. India's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, stated that the investments will materialize over the next 2 to 3 years, with some projects already operational and their capacities largely secured. Tata Electronics also signed multiple cooperation agreements at the event with companies such as Nexperia and Fujifilm, covering wafer manufacturing, packaging and testing, and the localization of critical materials.
