Yesterday, a lot of friends told me about this insanely expensive beef noodle place in Taipei. Apparently, the priciest bowl costs 10,000 NTD, which is about 2,100 RMB or 320 USD. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t go try it myself—it’s just way too expensive. But today, my buddy @rtk17025 from dd滴滴 decided to blow my mind. I really didn’t expect it. When we made plans, I thought we were going for the 1,500 NTD bowl, but nope, they went straight for the Presidential Beef Noodles. Thanks for letting me experience this! The noodles themselves weren’t particularly mind-blowing. We chose the thin noodles, which soaked up the broth really well. But the soup? That was amazing. I ended up asking for two extra servings of soup, and the owner even mentioned they usually don’t allow refills, but made an exception today. Of course, the most expensive part was the beef. Six different cuts of beef, including Australian Wagyu-grade short ribs, U.S. Prime short ribs, U.S. Angus beef rib fingers, a meticulously trimmed mix of beef tendon and meat, and Japanese Wagyu. I might’ve missed a few details, but it was something like that. The quality of the beef was undeniably top-notch—melts in your mouth, no toughness at all. The only thing is, six pieces were a bit much. By the end, it started to feel a little heavy. When the owner mentioned that most people share this bowl between two or three people, it all made sense. I also chatted with the owner for a bit and recorded a short video. I’ll edit it and post it later. This beef noodle shop has been around for 36 years. Even though they have this crazy expensive beef noodle option, the owner said most of their customers still come for the affordable bowls.
