[Institution: YMTC's NAND Shipment Share Rises to 14%, Enters Global Top Three for the First Time] BlockBeats News, August 12: According to a report by market research firm Counterpoint Research, in the second quarter of 2026, as AI workloads shift from training to inference, enterprise SSDs (eSSDs) accounted for 48% of global NAND shipments, nearly double the 26% share from the same period last year. The growth in server-side demand has tightened the supply of consumer-grade NAND and driven industry revenue to record levels, approximately five times higher than in the second quarter of 2025. On the supplier side, Samsung maintained its position as the leader with a 25% shipment share, though this was down from 32% in the second quarter of 2024, primarily due to its prioritization of high-margin DRAM production capacity. SK Hynix ranked second with a 22% share, with its subsidiary Solidigm achieving a 40% quarter-over-quarter increase in NAND bit shipments. YMTC's shipment share rose to 14%, surpassing Kioxia to enter the global top three for the first time. Its shipment volume grew 22% year-over-year and 5% quarter-over-quarter. Counterpoint noted that while YMTC ranked third in terms of shipment volume, it remained fifth in revenue, trailing Micron and Kioxia. This is mainly due to its product portfolio being concentrated in consumer-grade applications, with a lower proportion of high-value data center eSSDs. The company plans to further increase the proportion of eSSD products in the second half of the year. The report predicts that by the end of 2026, server eSSDs will account for more than half of global NAND bit shipments. As servers become the primary driver of NAND demand, future competition among suppliers will increasingly depend on high-value product portfolios rather than overall shipment volumes. [Original Link]
